My Opinion, And Here’s What’s Going On

Spring has officially arrived in Newalla… along with the wind, dust, and that one day where it feels perfect outside. It’s a pretty calm week around Newalla—and honestly, that’s not unusual. If you’re looking for things to do in Newalla this week, there’s nothing major happening, but there’s still plenty going on in everyday life across Newalla, Harrah, Choctaw, McCloud, Little Axe, and Shawnee. Here’s your quick look at what’s happening locally.

This week is mostly about routine. Schools are back in full swing with spring sports, practices, and end-of-year prep starting to pick up across Harrah, Choctaw, and McCloud.

Around Newalla itself, there aren’t any big organized Newalla events this week, which is pretty typical. Most activity is just people getting back outside—working on land, cleaning up properties, and getting ready for the warmer months.

Spring is officially the “get stuff done” season.

You’ll probably notice more trucks, trailers, and equipment moving around—lawn care, brush clearing, and general property work is picking up fast across Newalla and McCloud.

Food-wise, most folks are sticking close to home or making quick runs into Harrah or Choctaw. One thing that continues to stand out, though, is local selling. Eggs, baked goods, and small home-based setups are still some of the best Newalla deals you’ll find.

Biggest thing this week: wind and dry conditions.

It’s been one of those stretches where everything feels a little too dry, so if you’re doing any burning or outdoor work, be careful. Not the most exciting of Newalla tips, but definitely one of the most important right now.

On a better note, early mornings and evenings have been really nice when the wind settles down. And if you’ve been noticing land getting cleared or worked on lately, you’re not imagining it.

I stopped by the Braum's Ice Cream & Dairy Store off 29th and Harrah Rd this week, and I swear… that place is always packed.

Doesn’t matter the time of day—there’s always a line, always cars, always people inside. At this point, I’m convinced they could double the size of that place and it would still stay busy 😄

But honestly, it makes sense. The ice cream is solid, and it’s one of the best spots to swing by after Little League softball or baseball games. Half the town seems to end up there at some point.

Not complaining… just saying… they might need to start planning an expansion 👀
