Sometime this week, just about everybody around here had that same moment—standing outside, looking up at the sky, and trying to decide if it was about to storm or not.
One minute it felt like a perfect spring day… the next you’re checking the radar, hearing the wind pick up, and wondering if you should go ahead and move the trash can before it ends up in the neighbor’s yard.
That’s pretty much been the theme this week around Newalla. A little bit of everything, nothing too predictable—but still plenty going on if you’ve been paying attention.
🆕 New & Noticed Around Newalla
It’s been a quieter week for official “grand openings” around Newalla, but that doesn’t mean nothing new is happening.
What we are seeing is more local, small-scale businesses popping up—home-based baking, fresh egg sales, and small services being shared through Facebook and word-of-mouth. That’s usually how things start out here before they ever turn into something bigger.
We’re keeping an eye out for any official openings, so if you’ve seen something new—whether it’s a food truck, small service, or someone selling locally—send it in. That’s how we help everyone discover it.

📍 The “Newalla Area” Isn’t Just One Place
One thing that confuses a lot of people (especially if you’re new around here)… Newalla isn’t just Newalla.
The 74857 area actually overlaps with a handful of nearby communities—Choctaw, Harrah, parts of McLoud, and even stretches toward Little Axe and the edge of Shawnee, depending on where you’re at. So when someone says they’re “in Newalla,” it can mean a lot of different spots.
That’s also why things feel a little spread out. Different school districts, different directions for groceries, different places people consider “town”—it’s not all centered in one place like most cities.
And honestly, that’s part of what makes it unique. It’s less about city limits… and more about the area people call home.
🎬 Name That Movie
Alright, let’s see who actually knows this one…
“I never look back, darling. It distracts from the now.
And besides… you can’t change the past.
But you can always change your future.”
